Print outside print area

Hi,
I am using HP Laserjet 1020, tried to print the cheque using manual feed tray. Created one paper size exactly of the cheque size. \In the print dialogue box, in properties selected the custom sized paper. But print was happening the outside print area. Paper is coming out without any print on it, but if feed a A4 size paper, print is coming on left side of the paper. Any suggestions to solve it ?

Thank you for the reply. You may be correct, but same size paper is printing, if we create a same size word document without any issue., If we put an A4 paper to test, cheque is printed on left + bottom aligned nicely. Cheque size is more than the minimum paper size acceptable by the printer.
Is there any fix for it?

Thanks for the suggestion, landscape orientation is working, but extremely difficult to load cheque in that way and feeding of cheque is not in straight. What to do?
